Indian Marriage – A Sacred Relation

It is said that marriages are made in heaven and we got that auspicious chance to celebrate it on earth. The popular belief is true to a great extent as it is a special alliance allowanced between two spirits who tie the wedding ring after promising to be together for a life time. This is the physical, mental and spiritual union of two souls. It brings substance stability and substance to human relationships, which is otherwise incomplete. It plays a vital role in transferring the culture and civilization from one generation to the other, so that the human race is far welled. The institution of marriage is advantage to the society as a whole, because it is the foundation of the family, which in turn is the fundamental building block of the society. Unless this all important building block is healthy and unified, society itself cannot be healthy and unified. Monogamous marriage stands at the foundation of family life.

Definition of Marriage:

Marriage is the academic identification of combination of a man and a woman. Marriage can be recognized by a state, an institution, a religious authority, a tribal community, a local communal unit. The day of marriage is the day of sharing a life time eternal bond. Fragrance of the day since the ritual of roka does not let the future groom and bride to sleep. All of a sudden dreams filled wide open eyes change the world of the girl and the boy. Both express their excitement in different ways, where the boy expresses it by focusing on all the possible honeymoon destinations and the girl gets over conscious about her looks and all the ceremonies. Their heart beats resonate but the way of expression lies in the genes.

So is the concept of marriage is just a myth propagated by romantic writers and story tellers? No, it is not a myth. There are a lot of rituals performed in an Indian marriage ceremony prelude to the abstract and ideals of Indian marriage. The oaths taken in the ceremony lay down the norms for couple to pursue their marital relationship. Sacrifice, trust, love, mutual respect, mutual understanding, honesty and commitment are the essence of Indian marriage. The commitments shown by the Indian brides towards their husband are unprecedented in the world and perhaps the very accredit that it separates the Indian marriages from the rest.

They should remember that the holiness of the relation should be preserved and the lifelong nature of the wedding knot should be kept intact. On the other hand, women should adjust to the new family, after all a Indian marriage is just not about staying together; it is about living together happily with each other and for each other.
